About Us

We are American-born language arts professionals based near Charleston, South Carolina, USA.

Working as a team, we specialize in rendering translations from Portuguese or Spanish into natural, easy-to-read English with none of the awkward phrasing or foreign constructions that so often appear in translations. Having lived and worked in Brazil and other South American countries for many years, our fluency in Portuguese and Spanish, including local dialects, reflects our deep, real-life experience with Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking people.

Our translation projects have included official documents, reports and articles (both web and print) for several foreign governments, global pharmaceutical and oil companies, online shopping and market research firms, various media, universities and tourism companies, military commands, environmental firms and regulatory agencies. We also provide certified translations from Portuguese into English for individuals; these include college transcripts, marriage licenses, drivers’ licenses and other documents.

In addition to being certified by the American Translators Association (ATA) for Portuguese to English translation, Elizabeth is an excellent simultaneous and consecutive interpreter (Portuguese<>English). She provides conference interpreting for corporations and nonprofit groups, attorneys, heath care providers and social agencies. More about Elizabeth

Don, with more than 25 years of writing and editing experience, brings a superlative set of editorial skills to the team. Every translation and transcreation project undergoes a final edit/proofreading to make sure that the final text is both accurate and natural. Don and Elizabeth believe that translations into English should be so natural and easy to read that the target audience will never know that it was rendered from Portuguese or Spanish. More about Don

Don and Elizabeth also apply their deep cross-cultural experience and language skills to teaching English as Second Language (ESL) and to hosting/escorting foreign visitors. During their 12 years in Brazil, they hosted over 120 international teams, providing close logistical support and language interpretation.
